This volume covers the reigns
of Elizabeth I and James I (15581625). During this period there were 623
entries of marriage, which I have arranged in five pages. The pages are linked,
so you can move back and forth between them. Page 5 leads on to the index for
Volume II.
Tottenhams popularity with the well-to-do is very apparent from these entriesa
very high proportion are for the gentry and their servants. In addition, many
presumably prosperous London merchants were married at All Hallows by licence,
whilst there are several other parties from surprisingly far away. At some time
in the future I intend to do some statistical breakdowns.
Indexes of surnames (grooms and brides) and locations mentioned in
the indexes will appear as soon as possible.
